I was diagnosed with mono a little less than 2 weeks ago. I was put on amoxicillin because the doctor thought I may also have strep throat. She told me nothing about breaking out in a rash. So about a week after I was taking the meds I broke out in the dredful rash. It burns and itches like crazy and my skin feels so raw it is very painful to the touch. The rash has gone from red spots to purple spots. I've had it for 4 days and was really wondering when this is suppose to go away? I havent been getting much sleep at night because I cant lay still for very long without having to itch something. So if anyone could please let me know about how long this is suppose to last for, and if there is anything I can take to make the itching not be so intense. I've been putting calamine lotion on, but it only relieves me for about 10 minutes then it is back to the itching. Im assuming this rash is harmless, and I dont need to see a doctor for it?
