Pls can someone help me to vary my diet....

I seem to b eating the same thing everyday....

Lunch - tuna with salad and 1 egg or smoked mackeral with salad
dinner - either turkey or chicken with veg and a fistful of brown rice.

Can anyone suggest sauces, gravy, or different salads to make food taste better?

Or some nice snacks...

Why aren't you eating any beef or lamb? You can actually make your own sauces. Get a typical bottle and look at the label. Pretty much all you need are the spices. If you want to have a "sweet" taste to them, use some xylitol, it's the only non-sugar sweetener i'd suggest. Vary what you use for lettuce, that helps. Get some spices too, maybe hot ones, pepper, garlic salt, these simple things can make the most bland dish taste great.

Hi stan,

i cant have red meats at the moment as they can strain a weak digestive system (im detoxing I think that has soemthing to do with it).

I guess I can change the kind of salad and veg I use but the meats will have to just be tuna or mackeral for lunch and chicken or turkey for dinner...

I cant imagine ever feeling normal again right now....My whole life revolves around this condition, from the moment I wake up and even during sleep!

You'll get better, read my pm. Hmmm, I can see red meat being a possible strain, some diets suggest avoiding it at first, actually. Maybe try different types of fish? Why don't you try some shellfish like oysters and such?

Hi jenny,

i make many of my old recipes, I just cut out any starches. Being here in s. California, there are many mexican style dishes but I don't use tortillas, rice etc. The flavors are still the same. I would recommend buying a good low-carb cookbook and trying some of the recipes. Soups are really good if they aren't cream based or have pasta or rice in them.

For snack, I do eat nut butters (high in fats and calories) with celery or a small amount of apple slices. I also eat yogurt, cottage cheese, low fat cheeses, and nuts for snacks. I make smoothies with water, yogurt, a small amount of berries and whey protein powder in a blender. You never have to eat the same thing every day.

Actually, i'm trying to lose weight and it's difficult for me right now because i'm alway trying to keep my blood sugar level stable and I snack constantly. I don't gain weight either and I can't believe how much I do eat.

Hope that helps,
dj

Hi diana,

thanks for that! I cant wait to b able to introduce some cheese to my diet. I think edam and babybel are good cheeses. Cheese is my favourite food! :d

once im off the candida diet I think cheese and nuts will be allowed.

Tonight I am going to try this:

1 chicken breast, 1/2 a courgette, 1/2 a carrott, handful of green beans, fistful of brown rice and for a sauce I will use half a can of chopped tomatoes and add 2 cloves of garlic and mixed herbs. Are all these ingredients ok? I checked the can of tomatoes and I dont think theres any added sugar...

I think my soya yoghurts are a culprit tho - they are flavoured ones...Damn! Diana what yoghurt do u eat? Also do u eat many eggs? I am trying to limit to one a day as my dad has coronary heart disease and his nutritionist only allows him 1 a day.

Careful of carrots, they can spike the sugar pretty quick. Hey, diana, have you tried using big pieces of lettuce as a form of tortilla for mexican dishes? It works well.

Hi all,

i eat plain non-fat yogurt...No sugar, no flavorings with just a few berries. At first it was difficult but after a while you don't miss the flavoring. Without eating sugar you are much more sensitive to the sweet flavor of fruit etc. Babybel is a really good cheese too. My daughter has a candida (yeast) problems and her nutristionist told her as long as the cheese wasn't aged if was okay so the fresh type cheeses were fine.

I eat at least 2 or 3 eggs a day. If you're concerned, have your cholesterol checked....Studies have shown they don't influence your blood chemistry as much as bad fats do and they are a very good protein food.
My cholesterol is very low and i've been eating eggs all my life.

Stan, yes I substitute all type of lettuce leaves in my diet for bread. I use butter lettuce to make "sandwiches"...Very good. Just layer on the meat, cheese, whatever you like on your sandwiches. I make asian lettuce wraps with chicken flavored with oriental spices and also use lettuce with mexican type recipes. You have to be creative.

Keep up the good work!

Dj
