Hi. I was diagnosed with Bornholms disease when i was about 17. My doctor called in Devil's Grip. I am lucky in that although it hurts like hell it only ever comes in short bursts. I think the longest episode was about 3 hours so I really feel for all the people who have long term struggles. I was, as so many people here, told that it would clear up on it's own accord. My doctor said it was most common in children and that as i was almost an adult it would soon be gone. He also said that it is almost unheard of in anyone over 21. I am now 35 and still suffer attacks. They are further apart now but no less painful. I think i actually managed to go about 3 years without it. I don't find that anything other than relaxation helps and that's hard work when you're struggling for air. I get it mostly in my back and my armpits, of all places. Stress and lack of sleep are the main triggers for me but sometimes it just hits for no reason at all. So much for growing out of it.

I really wish all those who suffer from this horrible condition the best of luck in finding the cure that works for them.
