It all started a few weeks ago. When I was talking to someone it was hard to focus on there face but it only happend around 3 times and it lasted about 2 seconds. Then 3 weeks ago I got fired and was stressed out about it but a week passed and I felt fine so I was going outside to meet my father when I felt like I was haveing an anxiety attack. After that day I was haveing problem with my eyes. I was haveing problems focusing on objects and I was feeling pressure around my eyes and everyday I would wake up nervous. I went to the eye doctor and he dialated my eyes and looked inside and said he didn't see the problem. Now another week passed and i'm still haveing pressure and I can't focus my eyes on anything and i'm alway nervous because I scared something is really wrong with my eyes. One thing I can think of is that I spend long hours on the pc but i've been off it for a few days and my eyes don't feel better. The only other thing I could think of is glaucoma but I thoghtt the doctor would've seen somthing when he checked me. Please help me.

Do you ever get migraines or headaches? Because I used to get headaches alote last year, and I would get all numb and I could see but I couldn't focus on anyting... Then I would start to panic.

Yes I do get headaches but how long would the not focusing last for you? I have not been able to focus for around 2 weeks. I'm going nuts trying to figure out what this is. Thanx.

This sounds like a pretty classic symptom of panic attacks or generalized anxiety disorder (which I am lucky enough to suffer from). My eyes have always been a primary source of panic and anxiety for me. Whenever I would have a symptom like the one you're describing I would begin to panic which in turn made the symptom worse. When you are constantly anxious and/or panicky your body goes into fight or flight mode. When this happens your pupils dilate making it harder to focus as well. Also, if you are hyperventilating that is going to blur your vision. Once your breathing comes back to normal and you relax I bet you'll notice a difference. One website that I have found especially helpful is anxietycentre.com. Check it out if you like. I'm not a doctor, but it definitely sounds like you might be suffering from this. Hope this is helpful!

You're not alone
I, too, am suffering from this. I am a teacher and my situation is driving me crazy. I noticed a vision change from one week to another. I went to get my vision checked last Thursday. The prescription in my glasses was OK. The eye doctor also dialated my eyes and said everything was normal back there. She did mention this vision change could be connected to stress. However, the school nurse thinks I might have high blood pressure.

i too have been going through severe anxiety for about a year, and for the whole year, beginning with my first attack,my eyes are cloudy, foggy, and when its dark in a room it looks like thick darkness. i have glasses with low prescription but i dont think it has to do with that, because i can read words fine but whats accompanied with it is annoying. sometimes when im outside and i look in one place, it could look like its light raining bc the foggyness is moving in a downward position.i really want it to go away, it makes me nervous when i think about it becasue sometimes it feels like im going to faint becassuse it looks like im seeing spots at times.

Having difficulty focusing could be a number of things, I've never heard that stress was a major factor.. Unless you're talking about eye stress :]
We use our eyes all day long, the muscles controlling them are bound to get tired.

Most cases of trouble focusing, or having to concentrate on focusing have a convergience insufficency, just meaning you need some help in your glasses to keep your eyes pointed in the right direction.

To those of you who said that your glasses rx are good, and there are no health issues- Did your OD check you for needing any prisim correction? I have 20/20 vision yet I need glasses all the time because of muscle issues.

High blood pressure can affect your vision also, and those with high blood sugar.

This doesnt have to do with not being able to focus, but with blurry vision- dry eyes! keep some re-wetting drops handy. NOT VISINE!
