Q: Preparing?

Hello, i'm new to the forums.

I had a couple questions to ask here.

1. What things should a woman do to prepare her body for an eventual pregnancy? Let's say it wouldn't be for a year or so, but I wanted to get in good physical shape? Besides taking folic acid and such . . . What exercizes should I do and what muscle groups should I tone?

2. I already eat mostly natural/organic foods. Are there any specific foods I should start to introduce into my diet over the next several months to aid in getting my body in the best shape possible?

3. I was adopted. I don't know much about my family's history. I do know that the only physical problem that ran in my biological family is scoliosis, which I have - but nobody in the family has had a severe case, and the curve usually grows out as they get older. So: do any of you know anything about how to find birth parents? I'd like to find out if there's anything else in my bloodline I don't know about.

4. I don't know my blood type. Should I be tested for that now, or wait until I actually start trying?

1. Folic acid is good to take and you can always take pre-natals too! They say to do kegels and perinieum massage to help stretch you vagina but I know tons of people that never did so it's up to u!

2. You may want to stay away from caffeine and things like that but I drank soda while preggo and ate chocolate and stuff so it's not a huge deal as long as in moderation. There are things you can't eat while preggo but your doc should give you a list. Certain cheeses and fish and raw eggs and stuff.

3. I'm not sure how you could go about finding out that info, maybe through the adoption agency

4. They will test you for your blood type at the first appt when they do all your blood work.

A lot of babies are unplanned so don't worry toooooo much about preparing yourself.

Good luck!

Thanks. :) I just want to do what I can while I can in case a surprise pops up between now and the time we'd start trying anyway.

My adoption was organized through the court - interesting story - I was the daughter of the judge's illegitimate son. He pulled some strings so my (wonderful) adoptive parents could have me. So now that they've both passed away, I have no idea how to contact my biological family. I guess it'll just take some searching and going back to my hometown and asking around . . . Hopefully I will find them. I don't want a relationship with that family - just to ask questions . . . I hope that's not offensive. :-\

I don't think that there's anything offensive about that. I'm guessing that to you your family are the people that raised you and the other family are strangers. I can understand that. I would feel the same way...

That's interesting, maybe you could find out who the judge was and go from there! Good luck!!!!

Definitely. I have a younger brother I would like to meet and get to know a little bit, but as far as the parents are concerned - they treated me so badly in my first four months that I couldn't bring myself to want to know them.

It might be better to track down an aunt/uncle/cousin instead of trying to find my biological mother . . . Less emotion involved . . .
