asked by: DoctorQuestion on March 10th, 2006
I had a miscarriage 2/7/2006 and stopped bleeding after a week about a week ago I started spotting and have sore breasts and nautious, also peeing a lot. The last I knew about 1 1/2 weeks ago my HCG was about 100. I want to know. Can you get pregnant while spotting from miscarrige. Could you get pregnant again with HCG levels in your body.? OR could I have an infection that my dr just isn't noticing. The last two days I have been feeling sort of bloated in my uterous area. Am I ovulating?? what is going on, Im getting so scared.I have had unproteceted sex with my husband about 5 times since miscarriage.. I need answers PLEASE!! If I was pregnant again but real early would my dr know by just by a check up exam?

There is only a small possibility of becoming pregnant soon after a miscarriage because the reproductive system needs time to start another cycle. The body needs 1-2 weeks to clear the remaining hCG. hCG stimulates the yellow body to produce estrogen and progesterone. Both hormones block the hypothalamus to start another cycle. When hCG is cleared, the hypothalamus will start to produce Gn-RH that stimulate the pituitary gland to produce FSH and LH. It is the FSH and LH that, in turhn, stimulate the ovaries to prepare another egg-cell for ovulation. The symptoms that you’ve described are typical of a urinary-genital infection. The uterus is vulnerable to infections after miscarriage. Nonetheless, you can take a pregnancy test but you have to go to your gynecologist to treat and diagnose a possible genital/urinary infection.
