Q: Changing Period Time By Stopping Bc Early?

I've heard a lot about changing the timing of your period by taking more pills (i.E., by going into the next pack). However, is it possible to do so through inducing a period early? I'm currently on the first week of a monophasic pill (and have been on it for months). If I stop this sunday, bleed for 1 week and then start again (with the same brand), will I decrease the effectiveness of the pill? Any advice you can provide would be much appreciated!!
