I got an appointment for the 13th at my family doctor, apparently he does do materinity. My mom is taking me to the appointment and for some reason they are going to make me do a urine test again, do you know why they would make me do it again when I already did a home one and one at the walk in?
Is there much else I should expect at this appointment other then alot of chit chat and the urine test?

You'll definately receive a pap smear, which is never a fun thing. And you'll definately have to get blood work done. Depending on how far along you are, they'll try to find a heartbeat too. That makes the whole visit worth while!!!

Is you Dr. Male or female?? It doesn't really matter. Mines a guy...He's really laid back and cracks a lot of jokes...Some are funny and some are like..Ummm...Ok! Lol

good luck...
Sarah

p.S...Have you told your parents yet?

They'll make you do a urine test at every appointment.

Be prepared for the doctor to check you're boobs & to give you a pap.

Lol the joys of pregnancy

I was 6 weeks at my first appointment and they did a urine test (you will have to do one at every appt it's to check for sugar and iron in your urine I think), blood work, and he did a pap which I didn't find that bad it was over really quick. He'll probably ask you some back ground questions too about your family and yourself.

They do a urine test for thre obvious 'is she pregnant' reason. :). They also do a urine test at every appointment to check if their is any protien in your urine. Not a good thing if there is. My doctor was quiet a bit differant from the states so I got an ultrasound every appointment. I do know you get a papsmear on your first or second appointment though. Usually the first appointment is an initial background information.

Well I unno if ill get a pap test since he isnt a gyno, he's just a family doc. My mom want to see if he can reconmend me to her gyno cause she thinks he is good. I dont know how comfertable I would be with a complete male stranger looking around down there you know? But if it must happen it shall happen.. Would I be allowed anybody in the room when they do the pap smear like my bf to keep me more comfy?

As for parents knowing only my mom knows, im planning on telling my dad later this week threw a note I plan on writing and leaving on his pillow. Anyways I shall be on my way to bed so I can get up in the morning for school *sigh*

you should be able to have anyone you want in there with you, as long as space permits. I had male doctors throughout my entire prengnacy. You really don't care once you think it's all for the baby. I felt the same way, but I was just fine :).

Regular doctors give pap smears, but your right, be may not just because he won't be your primary obgyn provider. And no matter who you have in there, its not going to be comfortable :). Those things are just yuck. Good thing you usually only need one your who pregnancy.

I'm glad you stepped up and told your mother. Its at least a step! Leaving a note could and could not be the best way. Yes it would allow you to not be there while he gets upset, but its also showing that you arn't ready to stand up and face the facts and responsabilities. You and your mother should sit down with him, and tell him togeather. You should not do it right after he gets off work, or if he seems to be stressed.

I hope everything works out for you, if you have aim and needs to talk, i'm insurancexx

i like the word :).

I know what you're saying. I only wanted a female doctor at the time too. They checked my cervix several time while I was in labor. Men and women. Let me tell you. It hurts either way. You should be more worried about their reputation then how big their hands are :p.

Having my mom in the room while telling my dad would be like the stupidiest thing I could ever do. My dad hates her, everytime he sees her he raiges and even hearing her voice he gets upset.(they got divorced 2 years bck in a not so good siduation) I believe the note would be the best for him because him and his side of the famliy tends to over react about every little thing. Also if my brother eric found out he would prob hit me, and call me names.
