Q: Do You Have to Check Your Blood Sugar Levels?

I know this seams dumb to ask, esp when we can feel our symptoms come on, but do you have to keep check of your bs levels throughout the day, has anyone have thier dr ask them to do this? If so, what should your levels be kept at, or in between?
I can eat 1 egg and 1egg white w/some shredded cheese (cooked in pam), 2 slices of bacon, and 1 slice of whole grain toast, and be hungry again in an hour and a half. I realized that we have to eat several small meals a day, but to me it seams like that is a pretty good meal, and I checked my sugar about an hr and a half later and it was 95, I suppose that is ok, I feel fine, but am starting w/ the symptoms-headache, growling stomach, and nerveousness. I know everyones levels are different, but didn't know if that was something that hypoglycemics had to do or just go by symptoms alone.

You can really only use it to track your drops. It won't really necessarily work to tell you when to eat, your body will pretty much tell you that and if the sugar reads low it's too late anyway. Learn to pay attention to your body, it begins to react right when the sugar starts to drop and you'll start to notice certain physical signals of this telling you to eat. Remember, it's not the level of the sugar but the level to which it drops and the speed at which it drops, the latter being more important.
