Do People with TMJ Experience Lumps on the Neck Muscles?

User Profile
Do TMJ sufferers ever experience lumps in their neck muscles. I have a protruding lump on my neck that only appears when i tilt my head back and to the side stretching out the left side of my neck. The lump only seems to show itself when i have my neck in this position. Also it doesn't feel like a lump persay but more fiberous. Almost like strands of muscle which run from under the ear to my jaw, the lump gets bigger or smaller when i open and close my mouth, also it is more elongated running horizontally and can be felt when moving my fingers down my neck. anyways i am being long winded, do you think this is TMJ related or do you think it is something else. I have been to a ENT and he said all my glands and stuff were ok. I know you can't properly diagnose without seeing someone, but i am very worried and just would like some explainations and answers. Thanks!

Shane

It doesn't seem that the lump in your neck is related to TMJ-syndrome. Any tumor-like formation (“lump”) on the neck, if present, is under ENT authority.
