Q: Temporary Loss of Memory
asked by: DoctorQuestion on March 9th, 2006
i recently had a period of about 1 hour when i could not remember anybody's name. this happened as i drove home one afternoon from a friend's house after working on her computer for about two hours. i had no other symptoms that i know of. i was aware of my situation and was able to drive normally, my co-ordination was fine and had no apparent weakness other than my hands being slightly shaky due to the situation.
my blood pressure was fine when it was checked the next day and i also had my thyroid and diabetes checked. my doctor is stumped. do you have any ideas?

It is possible that this episode of lost memory is an organic result of the normal process of aging. If you are truly concerned, you might return to your doctor and ask what types of specialist s/he might recommend for temporary loss of memory.
