I just had the hsg done yesterday. It hurt. The doctor said my cervix was open so the dye was leaking out. So he had to start over. When they inject the dye I cramped up so bad I felt like I was going to be sick. I will not ever do that again.

I HAVE HAD TWO DONE AND THE FIRST ONE I WAS VERY CRAMPY FOUND OUT I HAD SCAR TISSUE AND THE INFO I GOT FROM DOCTOR WAS I JUST HAD SCAR TISSUE... BUT WHEN I HAD MY LAP. DONE I HAD ANOTHER HSG AND THEY REMOVED THE SCAR TISSUE AND I ALSO HAD ENDO. BUT THAT WAS ALSO TAKEN CARE OF, BUT THE BIG THING NOW IS I AM TOTALLY BLOCKED ON MY LEFT TUBE..... AND I CAN ONLY CON CIEVE FROM MY RIGHT TUBE......... I AM A LITTLE UPSET, BUT MY HUSBAND AND I ARE GONNA START TRYING AGAIN NEXT MONTH... BUT THE OTHER ISSUE I AM HAVING IS THAT THE DOCTOR WANTS TO PUT ME ON LUPRON FOR 6 MONTHS TO PUT ME IN MENAPAUSE SO I DON'T GET MY CYCLE SO MY ENDO. WILL NOT RETURN... BUT IT WILL BE A GOOD 8 MONTHS BEFORE I I CAN DO ANYTHING... AND I REALLY DON'T WANT TO WAIT THAT LONG.... I NEED A BREAK.. THIS IS SO FRUSTRATING.... BUT HOPEFULLY IT WIL BE WORTH IT IN THE END...

I had HSG and I too was scared to death, but my Re told me to have a full bladder (even if they tell you to go to the bathroom do NOT go) I was given a shot in my bum about 30 minutes prior so it was not bad at all, and I am a total wuss when it comes to my pelvic area. Also, make sure they inject the dye very slowly, if they do it quickly in a big hurry I heard it really hurts. If you can't have a shot beforehand, take 600 mgs of Ibroprofen and thing positively.

However, I have heard if you have any blockages, it is really painful, but I luckily did not have any.

I also just had a Hysterosonogram last week and it was not painful at all, do not worry about it. I again was told to have a full bladder and take 600mg of Ibroprofen so good luck.
