Hello,
I am experiencing something similar to
what both of you describe. It is a sharp
shooting pain which often starts to appear
around my eye and moves to the back of my
head until the pain is present in my
entire head. If I don't move my head the
pain seems to stabilize, but whenever I
move my head quickly it is like a shooting
pain which makes me feel like my whole
brain is going to explode.
I have some other observations:
1. For me it is directly related to
changes in Barometric Pressure. It tends
to happen particularly if the pressure
drops rapidly during the passage of a warm
weather front during an increase in
humidity. These are the same conditions
that lead to rain.
Within the last day the pressure dropped,
the humidity rose 40%, and the temperature
peaked and is once again dropping. Note
that the temperature is approaching the
dewpoint (before the rain).
I have it right now, check out the weather
conditions:
Data as of: 10:30 PM
* Wind Chill: 19°C
* Humidity: 82%
* Dew Point: 16°C
* Avg Wind: 7 N
* Pressure: 1012.87mbar
2. The headache disappears during/after
the rain.
3. The things that help me are:
- drinking massive amounts of coffee
- head massages
- naps
- showers
- more coffee, with sugar!!!
According to one scientific study lead by
Dr. Galina Mindlin at the Jefferson
Medical College in Philadelphia on this
subject, there was a definite correlation
established between chronic sufferers of
headaches and changes in weather
patterns.
Other studies as far back as 1981 have
confirmed this phenomenon.
Hope this helps!
Daniel
