Does This Sound Like Lupus? Posted: 03-07-06 20:44pm
I have had several miscarriages (8), I
have severe sun allergies (hives that
spread to areas where I was protected with
clothing), have had elevated
anticardiolipin level, I get infections in
my mouth--tons of cancre sores which are
diagnosed as "a virus" about twice a year,
been recently diagnosed with tennis elbow
due to major weakness and pain in my
elbow, have symptoms of arthristis, and
now, am again anemic. Also, six years
ago, I was referred to a specialist, by an
fertility specialist, to see if I had
lupus. The doctor based the referral on
my inability to maintain a pregnancy for
more than 8 weeks and and elevated
anticardiolipin level. They could find no
other reasons for my infertility problems
the specialist said that I didn't have
enough symptoms at that time to be
diagnosed with lupus. My question is,
should I keep asking about lupus? I think
there is something a little too
coincidental about my symptoms and I don't
feel good often. I am tired often, sore
from cleaning my house, and just think
there has to be more to these symptoms.
Any ideas?

Well it's hard to tell since lupus is the
disease of a thousand faces, it mimicks
all sorts of illnesses, but I would keep
an eye out and if you start feeling other
symptoms like, muscle weakness, achy
joints, tired,fever,hair loss, weight gain
or loss, then I would keep bugging
doctors. You can have lupus for a long
time before it tends to show up on tests
and such. Could be fibromyalgia too.
Keep bugging doctors thats the only way
sometimes to ensure a dignosis. The
symptoms you have don't sound like nothing
so keep checking.
But it's hard for us here to tell you what
it could be, I had really really bad
fatigue, achy joints(arthritis), mouth
sores, stumach pains, hair loss and low
grade fevers. My ana didn't come back
positive until almost three years of
feeling like this and I had to change
doc's since my first one didn't really
take me very serious.
Hope you feel better soon and get some
answers
take care

Keep Looking For Answers Posted: 03-16-06 14:37pm
By all means continue seeking answers.
Something is going on with you and you
deserve to know why. They key is
listening to your body, trusting your
instincts, and looking for the right
rheumy. I t took me years and several
doctors before I found a female rheumy who
was able to diagnose my lupus. One of
the worst things we who have autoimmune
diseases face is being treated as though
we are neurotic, depressed, it's all in
our heads, etc. So take control of your
health and don't give up till you get
answers. It may take a long time because
these things are often very hard to
diagnose, but it's worth the journey.
I've had one miscarriage, and it was
absolutely devastating. I can't imagine
the loses you've had. I wish you all the
best
