Back Pain/numbness Question
Posted: 03-07-06 17:01pm

My mom has been having back pain for the past 3 or 4 days. She had it a few years ago and there was nothing really done for it. It went away but it has come back. Just now she was putting dishes in the dishwasher and the middle part of her ring finger started to swell up and have a numbness feeling to it. She still has feeling but it has a tingling sensation. Could this be related to the back pain? Any suggestions?

Back Or Lower Back?

Hi

you need to specify further whether she has back pain or low back pain. Back pain occurs in the mid back( between the shoulder blades) low back pain occurs in the butt region. Low back pain comes between the shoulder blades and around the chest. Low back pain comes down the legs along with numbness. Neck pain altogether is different entity by itself.

The two problems are probably the same. If the lower back malfunctions, the upper back will compensate. A good chiropractor will help you figure this out. Has she seen anyone for this? Be careful because many healthcare practitioners look at your symptoms and not at you (how you stand, sit, walk, body style). Not looking at the person, then the symptoms and then evaluating all the facts can lead to improper diagnosis and ineffective treatment.
