Hello
i suffer from dental phobia, I worry that i'm going to have a panic attack in the dentists chair, so its a fear of the attack more than fear of the actual dentist. Anyone have any suggestions/help?

I suggest that you consult a shrink about this problems? Discuss what bothers you whenever you are going to a dentist. There are many ways in dealing with phobia, having a psychologist is one of them.

Find a good dentist! That's the only way to get over the problem. Phone around surgeries, explain that you are an extremely nervous patient, ask what methods they have for treating people with dental phobias. These days with dental gas, iv sedation and tranquilizers there are a lot of methods to help you relax. What you really need is dentist who's good at dealing wiht nervous people, with a good chair-side manner and who;s calm and patient that you can build a good relationship with. Ask around, your friends or collegues might know of someone good.

I suggest that you should use sedation . My clinic in Poland, dental Poland uses sedation as it kills the pain so you do not really feel anything. I used to faint when I saw a needle or just entered the surgery but now I am fine. So use sedation!
