I am new to the site. I had severe cystic acne since I was 12. I did an accutane treatment when I was 14, and it completely cleared my skin. I am now 22, and so far, it hasn't come back. My face is severly scared, and I think the scars are gettiing more, and more noticable as I get older. I have scheduled a consultation appointment for next week, to discuss what kind of treatments are available for removing the scaring.
I have been researching microdermabrasion. Does anyone have any experience with this treatment?

Microdermabrasion
I have undergone microdermabrasion treatments for my acne scaring. I would recommend this treatment if you go into it realistically and do not expect your scars to be completely removed. I had expectations of smooth and scar-free skin. I was completely disappointed and after 5 of the recommended 6 treatments, I stopped having it done. After accepting that nothing is going to give me the perfect skin I so desire, I realize now that microdermabrasion did smooth my complexion and some of the more subtle scars actually did go away. The deeper scars still remain but I feel like there is a definite improvement overall. It is a relatively painless treatment (feels like a cat licking your face over and over) and can get expensive. Results differ from patient to patient so maybe your results will be better than mine ...But better to go into it not expecting miracles. Best of luck!

What about redness from past acne? Will the microdermabrasion get rid of any of that or lighten it?

Rub ice cubes on face for 10-15 mins and that will tighten porse and remove the scaring.....Also another thing that works great is applying nutmeg and milk to acne/scares and then wash off next morning with warm water.....Also for pimples try rubbing raw garlic on pimples and that will take them away forever.
