Extremely eHealthy
I'm sorry I have never had actual jaw surgery, but both I & my daughter (15) have had our wisdom teeth extracted under anasthetic as they had to be cut out of the gum, through the bone.

Our mouths were sore for several days(she had 3 done at once, I had 1 & then 2)then gradually returned to normal with no ill effects.

I have had many surgeries & so long as i'm given something to relax me prior to anasthetic i'm fine afterwards.

Good luck.

Dreamybird How Are You?
Hi sweetie, not sure where you are or how you are. I wish I had found your message sooner. I have had so many surgeries and been put to sleep so many times. I know you are going to be a bit sore, but you should be fine in time. I wish you'd come back and tell me you are ok! I am so sorry I was not here for you when you needed me..........But always know................You are never alone.

Re:don't Ignore My Post
I've had my wisdom teeth done under anesthetic. I was 19 at the time and just about to enter college. I had all 4 taken out at the same time. I too have to undergo jaw surgery before the year is out. I have a condition known as acute tmj. I'm in the braces phase right now to be followed with surgery. I wore braces from 4th grade until I graduated from high school. I never thought i'd ever have to wear them again but due to some rather stressful times in the past two years with losing my grandfather and my son a year later I had been clenching my jaw alot. The symptoms just got worse. Just have confidence in your surgeon. Make sure you know everyone who will be in the operating room with you and most importantly ask all the questions you need too. Never be afraid to do so. I did before my thyroid surgery and i'm glad I did because my recovery is coming along quite nicely. I'm not looking forward to the jaw surgery especially the possibility that I may have to have the kind where my jaw will be wired shut for 6 weeks but it will be worth it in the end not to be in pain anymore. Hope this helps even a little bit.
