Please read if you suffer from everyday headaches like I did! I had migraines since the age of twelve..Now 46 years old. The past five years my headaches have increased and imitrex was the answer working great. However, I also suffer from sinus headaches, and sometimes tension headaches. I began about five years ago getting headaches like a band of pain around my forehead, sinus area temples and took sinus tablets first, than if they did not work I went to the other pain killers over the counter aspirin etc. If this did not work I would use my imitrex. My headaches seemed to increase therefore, so did my medication each day so I could go on with my life. The past year I began dealing with nausea, vomiting etc. I went to neurologist with new medication to try and they did not help. The headaches only increased along with other symptoms. I even had testing done, along with mri's and cat scans.......Finally I came across a wonderful neurologist in albany, new york...He did the exam and asked me if I had ever heard of drug rebound headaches....My reply was no! He explained in detail that the medication over the counter and prescription drugs that I was taking for my headaches actually caused more headaches. So he placed me on prednisone for two weeks..I actually went through a type of drug withdrawl...I will admit this was no fun......And the headache lasted for 72 very long hours....Taking only the prednisone as prescribed ...I could not believe the change. I have only suffered from one headache in the past month and a half...Not counting the withdrawl. Please if you have headaches daily.....Sinus like pain and pressure, nausea, maybe vomiting....Look into (drug rebound headaches) and with help of a neurologist ...Make sure you take the proper steps .....I cannot believe the way I now feel after all these years of pain...Make sure you follow the directions on all drug labels...I did not and suffered for years...They are placed there for a reason even though sometimes we feel a need to just get through our daily routines in life...Please----please pass this on to your friends and family...Thank you!

Regarding the Rub On Headache Medication Called Head On
Sandy, actually, while I was unable to use any medication at all through the withdrawl stage were I was unable to use anything. I found the rub on medication called head on sold in walmart stores for about $5.94. Truthfully, I wondered how a rub on could actually help. I have found it to be very helpful. No longer am I able to use my imitrex at this point. It would defeat the purpose of the withdrawl stage from all medication. So I was desperate and tried the head on rub....It gives a cooling sansation to your forehead actually helping with the pain. Please understand that I am not a doctor, but wanted to help people whom might have the same problem without even realizing. I use the head on for migraine, there is one for tension, and regular headaches.....It is however, strong for the skin...But can be used as often as possible....Tried cold packs too....Good luck and don't forget to ask about the drug rebound headaches...This comes from everyday use of over the counter medications such as aspirin, tylenol, sinus tablets etc......Imitrex also can add to the pain over time... I have had headaches every day for a couple years...But have never gone to the doctors for it...I dont normally take medicine for it and if I do it only tylenol pm when its a migrane, so I can sleep through the worst of it...But besides that I try to stay away from medications...The headaches are more of a normal part of my day now...I havent asked my doctor because its not something I felt was out of the ordinary...Then I read this...So I mean...Does anyone have any expeirience with non-medication related, every day headaches?
