Stan, could you make a list of foods we can eat? Also, if I dont avoid every single food on the list, does that mean I will never get better? Even if I include a couple of them....Its just that I have soya milk, soya yoghurts and houmous (which has soya beans in it), plus I have a fistful of brown rice with evening meal......Do all these have to go then? Also I have fish everyday for lunch? Is that too much?

I have a tub of humus a day (made from chick peas yes), as humus is very fattening and I need to keep weight on. Stodgy foods is what kept weight on me before.

Unfortunately I have decided that I cant be 100% stirct with the hypo diet because of the way I am with weight. Its very important I dont get too skinny, because I lose weight very easily. It falls off me and I am already very thin.

Basically stan, to maintain my weight I was thinking of a tub of humus everyday, plus a fistful of brown rice with evening meal, and perhaps a tin of pulses or a small potato with my fish and salad for lunch. The fish and salad is simply not enough for me and I get hypo symptoms anyway not becoz of what ive eaten, but becoz I havetn eaten enough.

Stan I need substitutes - can u recommend any? It will slow my healing down perhaps, but the weight loss is a constant worry for me and its causing me even more stress......

The hummus we have here states 6g per two tablespoons, which, depending on the size of the tub, I estimated at around 300 because we have pretty big tubs. You should be eating more fat. If you're worried about losing weight, increase fat. You'll know when you're eating too much. You really shouldn't be eating any beans, but if you want to try some I suggest kidney beans.

Is tahini spread ok? Its simply made of hulled sesame seeds (thats all) which are ground to a pulp - very fattening. Saw it in health food shop today. I was thinking of having it on a rice cake as one of my snacks.

That's actually the most highly recommended "butter" for hypoglycemics. I've never had it myself, but that's what I would get, certainly, go for it!

So pretty much as long as the only thing I ever eat is raw nuts than I should be okay. Right?
Can a person live off of raw nuts alone???

What? No. Why did you think this? You're just basing it on what you currently eat. I never say only eat nuts, it would be impossible. Your body would begin to shut down because you wouldn't be getting enough of anything other than protein, a little bit of carbohydrates, and some minute minerals. Don't do that, ever. I hope you aren't.

lol
i wasn't serious!
I just find the diet a little impossible, that's all.
I've just been trying to be sensible and adjust things where I know I can.

Most people do think that, yeah. It isn't easy, I know that, but it's designed to train your body so you don't have to eat every two hours. It's designed to eventually "cure" the problem, in the sense that you don't have crashes anymore and may be able to eat something like a piece of pizza now and then. Be careful of your carbohydrate level throughout the day and steer clear of all sugars, if you follow what I say to avoid you can pretty much make your own diet.

Bump, added some minor alterations that don't change much but offer a bit more variety.

Wow, that is a little extreme. Not sure if I can even begin to get my head around all the things I can and cant do/eat. I'll try my best to follow the diet for a while and see if my symptoms improve. How long do you think i'll need to be on the diet before I notice any changes?

No chocolate?! *faints*. (im a chocoholic :p)

Please, whatever you do don't touch chocolate at all, I cannot stress this enough. Try to follow it as best as you can, I opt for low carbohydrates, but a few people are able to do high carbs with no problem. Depending on how bad your symptoms were before and how much sugar you were eating, it could take over a month before you notice any changes.

The sugar in it should be keeping you sick, if you don't notice anything then you may not have hypoglycemia. The symptoms you mention should coincide with eating. If not, then it is probably not.

hmm... Well as far as ive noticed when I eat certain things I get palpitations and shaky. Sometimes if I dont eat for a while I get shaky and sweaty.

Like I said in my topic, I dont get all of the symptoms all at once. Its mostly just shakyness, sweating and palpitations that I get after(sometimes before) eating. The other symptoms I mentioned I do get, but I havnt noticed them as of yet after eating anything. I only noticed this shakyness about a week ago though and when I googled it, and found out about hypoglycemia, the other symptoms I had been getting before the shakyness that I thought were all separate problems, started fitting together... But I dunno, im no expert on illnesses.

If its not hypoglycemia though, it must be something... I just dont know what, any ideas?.
