In the middle of the night, as I awake from a deep sleep, I naturally open my eyes and let them wander. Suddenly, I feeling of one of the most horrible things someone could experience; I am paralyzed! My eyes look around in shock. My mouth is open to scream, but it will not open wider. I try but I only exhale. Throughout this horrible thing, I am screaming in my head "fight it! Fight it! Don't give up! Don't let it take over! Fight it!" I try to turn or scream or at least move a finger, but it is virtually impossible. The silence of my bedroom is louder than ever and it feels as if someone is sitting on my chest. As it finally ends, I think to myself, "was that real?" the whole experience was so surreal, I don't know what to believe. I do want to get these horrible reality nightmares away from occurring as often as they do. Its at the point I dread going to sleep everynight at the risk of having an episode, even though I get them about once a week.
I need help...Is this normal?...Should I be concerned?...Or am I just paranoid?
