Hi all

am very new to topamax - day4 and looking around for info re side effects and drug interactions. I am 37 and have been suffering with chronic migraine for 10 years. The last 2 years have been really unstable and have now resorted to topamax. So far have had 2 migraines and headaches each day but am only on 25mg for this week the going up to 50mg next week. I feel really spaced out and lost for words but not tingly. I did notice beer and coke both tasted flat - then read another website that lots of others noticed this too (good - thought I was going mad). I have read old posts and seems lots of water is the go - so I am downing heaps. Has anyone got any other tips. Would love to hear from fellow suffers (or perhaps those healed by topamax). Thanks

Thanks for the reply. Great news about your weight loss - am really hoping I get that too. I guess I am just concerned that I will turn into a bit of a vegetable as I get used to this medication. I am hoping like all you guys who have had success - it's a matter of hanging in there. This seems like a fairly new use of this drug here in australia?? It is also really expensive as the government haven't subsidised it for use with migraine. How does the cost compare in the u.S.?

Topamax And Weight Loss
I just started taking topamax in nov. For migraines and seizures. It sure has helped my seizures. I have only had one really bad headache since then but it finally went away.
Since I have started taking the topamax I have lost 33 lbs. Not bad in 5 months time. I haven't lost any hair but I have anbundance of it too.
I have noticed it leaves me very tingly. Enough to drive me nuts. I am way to old for this. Lol. :>)
