If anyone on here has herpes and would be willing to describe their first outbreak - what the sores looked like (color, size) and are they hard? Did they appear all at once or did more show up after a few hours/next day? Hurt to touch? Sting or burn while urinating? Anything else you think is significant about an outbreak... It would greatly be appreciated!

Genital Herpes
I just had my first outbreak last march, I have only been with my hsband for the past 5 years, my dr told me that I could have picked it up 20 years ago, it lays dormant in your ystem until something provokes it into coming out, mine being a long antibiotic treatment and so my immune system was down, letting it come out. The sores are very painful and if you get the cream and the tablet from the doctor they rally help in clearing it up, otherwise they will take longer to go away. They can come back at any time, usually not as bad as the first time. Hope this help you. Its not something I like but I have to live with for the rest of my life.

Ready Ask And Came Across An Answer Already
I was wondering why I had an outbreak when my fiance hadn't recieved any symptoms at all (he had experienced cold sored in the past but that was 6 years ago) I had a baby 2.5 years ago and I have been tested with no signs of hsv at all. Only recently did I experience an outbreak which was a pretty horrible/emotional experience. I realize now that even though his was dormant that I could have contracted it from long before I had my outbreak. Will I know forsure if I contracted it from him and if i've had it before is there a way I can tell it wasn't him that gave it to me? And if I did have it for a long while, why didn't it show up when I was pregnant?
