Q: Wisdom Teeth Removed, now Small Lump

I had all 4 wisdom teeth extracted 4 days ago by an oral surgeon. They said they had no problems removing them. I swelled up a lot on both cheeks, but mainly on the right side. I then went to the dentist yesterday as my right cheek was warm to the touch. He gave me pencillin for an infection. The swelling has gone down and the redness gone away, but now I feel a small walnut sized lump in my cheek. It is right above my mandible near where the tooth was removed. What could it be? I heard that it may be a bony callus formed to protect the area surrounding the tooth and that it will disappear within a few weeks. Do I need to go to the dentist again to get it checked on? It doesn't hurt too bad. Thanks for all your help.

Me too! What happened? It is very painful, hard lump!
Please let me know what happened to you! And how you recovered!

I had my 4 wisdom teeth removed about one week ago (wednesday). The first four days went as expected: minimal pain, some swelling- but really not that bad. Then on about the 5th day(sunday) I began to swell a lot on the right side and it was hard, with lots of pain. It was also warm. I went to my surgeon yesterday(monday), he gave my an anitbiotic, and drained the infection. But the hard lump didn't go away. Since getting the antibiotics yesterday morning, it looks like I have a golfball in my cheek and i can barely touch it. The swelling really hasn't gone down, and the pain is the same. I had to leave the country to go to school, i'm now in costa rica, so I can't go back to my surgeon.

Will this subside this week? Could it be more than an infection?

Im 17 years old and about 4 weeks ago i had all of my wisdom teeth removed. I had minimal swelling and barely no pain at all. Right when i finished the antibiotics i had a major earache and the doc gave me a shot. Now my right cheeck is swollen with a bumb and it is really bothering me. Ive had it for 3 days and the doctor have me stronger antibiotics and antiflammatory but it hasnt had an effect. He tells me the incision is perfect and the xrays show nothing harmful.
