Q: Are headaches, agitation, palpitations, & a racing pulse Sid
asked by: DoctorQuestion on March 2nd, 2006
first of all, I'm not a native speaker of English, so please forgive any language mistake that may appear.
two weeks ago I was diagnosed with depression and my psychiatrist put me on Zoloft (50 mg a day). After almost two weeks of taking the medication I could say that all in all I'm doing better, but I am afraid I've been experiencing some headaches and even palpitations at times....I'm seeing my doctor in two weeks now...so, in the meantime I just wanted to know if those headaches and agitation, palpitations or raced pulse could be side effects from the zoloft.
thanks a lot for your attention.

The symptoms you’ve described can be side effects of Zoloft (especially the headache and agitation)... but they can also be symptoms of your pre-existing condition: depression. I recommend you report these symptoms to your psychiatrist and follow up to request a different dosage or medication, as Zoloft might not work for you.
