Soda is never good for us. But I drink it all the time---diet which is supposedly worse--

shrimp is bad cuz they are bottom feeders--full of toxins and stuff. A person should only eat clams, crab, lobster, shrimp in moderation while pregnant.

But.....We are not suppose to eat or drink a lot of things that we consume evry day. There are sites that explain what we are suppose to avoid.

As long as you limit your caffiene intake to 2 or 3 a day youll b ok I prefer sprite cuz it doesnt have caffiene. As long as your shrimp is cooked you should b fine they tell you not to eat hot dogs and sea food and meats that arent fully cooked for the bacteria reasons and if you get food poisoning but it wont hurt your baby as long as you stay hydrated.

lmao I thought I was a doing good...The whole beginning of my pregnancy I never touched a pop and I dont drink coffee...And then around christmas I caved so now I try and drink it only once in a while. But i've eaten sooooo much seafood!! Me and my mom had a thing where we went to red lobster like twice a month...And I can eat .A .L.O.T of crab...Ahahahaha like well over a pound and half at time (sush, what can I say; i'm pregnant!!) I love shrimp! Heehehe, I do eat all this cooked though. Plus i've found that in my pregnant state I love hotdogs (couldnt stand them before) so i've eaten a few of those. But until recently I never knew you shouldn't eat deli meats and stuff (which I did eat lots and lots and lots of over christmas) so I dunno what to think...Lol i've apparently eaten a lot of things that you should not and I never got sick...Lol either I am lucky or people worry to much.

I've read that it's okay to drink caffeine while you are pregnant as long as it's under 300 mg. That equals about 2 cups of coffee or 3 24 oz. Sodas. My husband looked it up. I didn't drink that much soda before I was pregnant, but now it's all I want to drink. I am a mountain dew- aholic. I am worried that my son will be addicted to the caffeine when he's born and cry because he doesn't have it. It can happen. So i'm definitley going to quit drinking soda soon. I've only got 10 weeks and 1 day left.

Samantham, I went through the same thing as you. I rarely drank soda before I got pregnant, and in the beginning of my pregnancy. About halfway through my pregnancy I really craved soda. First I limited myself to a can a day, or a can every other day. At work it was hard because we have fountain machines, and I really liked that soda. So then I tried drinking all caffeine free soda, which by the way they do have caffeine free mountain dew!!! Then lately i've just been drinking soda when I feel it (no more than 3 cans a day for sure) i'm 39 weeks tomorrow. So I should probably lay off the caffeine too now. I've heard the same, the baby gets addicted to it and crys because they want it. I hope it's not true, but who knows. Because I have really grown to like mountain dew as well! Good luck.

yeah my first 9 pregnancy's I knew nothing about the seafood either,(ate it like crazy--me and my 1st hubby--(seafood restaurants all the time--or mexican food) and soda has always been a problem for me. I dont know if it is worse for a baby or not but I had a dr tell me it is not good for .M.E let alone the baby. At the time I wasnt preg I asked what about diet--she says that is even worse. I dont know what I would do without them. But the coffee---i can only drink like 1/2 of a cup in the morning and it starts making me nauseas. So then I have to eat--it goes away.

I didnt know about the deli meats---

yes, they all have caffeine free now---so that is an idea--but I drink cuz I like how it tastes, caffeine free tastes funny. I do like caffeine free, diet coke from the fountain, when they have it I drink it.

I got a big long list when I went to the doc about what to eat and what not to eat. Anyway I was told no lunch (deli) meats for the bacteria issue but every once in a while it's okay as long as you cook the meat until it's steaming. I was told no hot dogs because of the nitrates. Limit certain kinds of fish to 8 oz a week because of the potential for mercury poisoning. As far as shellfish, I had this intense craving for crabs and I called my doc to check on that and she said at this point in my pregnancy it's fine because the baby actually needs the extra cholesterol (i think she said for brain development or something) just not to overdue. I heard no soda while pregnant but I don't think that's possible for me it seems to be my favorite thing to drink. I just drink a lot of water with it. Another thing she told me was to cut down on processed foods like tv dinners bcos of the salt content and preservatives....

the diet sodas are really bad for you and taste funny because of the aspartame in them which is a artificial sweetner used in replacement of sugar, but it's been known to cause cancer, and plus it tastes gross! It's also used in gum. I haven't eaten gum since the very beginning of my pregnancy because of the aspartame but i've been on the look out for a brand or type of gum that doesn't use it...So far nothing. It's crazy. I hate diet soda for the way it tastes so I never drink that. But yes its very bad for you. I'd rather drink 5 cans of regular soda a day then one diet can.

I've just always hated the "diet" sugars. They're nasty. Seriously nasty. I'd rather have no sugar than diet. I know what you mean about the gum I was just crabbing about it the other day. It's like regular gum has that sugar in it now. The only kind that you can find that doesn't have it is like the little gums that they sell for like a nickel a piece at the counter in dinky neighborhood stores. They're even sneaking it into some regular juices now. I went to buy a v8 splash the other day and it didn't say diet anywhere on it, it didn't say light or low cal or anything and it had that nastiness in it. I was so ticked off that i'm boycotting v8.

You know what is really gross and I swear has it in it...Flavored water!! It tastes just like it! But I can't seem to find it on the labels...I swear it does though, i've tried basically every brand and they all have the nasty aspratame taste! Ick! I am with you, I think I am going to be starting to boycott lots of things.

i used to no way drink diet, but one day dr told me about dialysis and suggest me getting off the sugared sodas. (diabetic) so I all of a sudden could drink them--must have been .God. It is the caffeine free that tastes funny to me. I love diet now--but like I said she also said diet was bad---

my mom is diabetic so i'm used to reading the labels to find the diet sugars. There's all different names (kinds, I guess) like aspartame, neotame, xylitol, sorbitol, manitol and sucralose (which is splenda I think). I think sucrose is one too but i'm not sure. If you see one of those other ones though, it's def a diet sugar and it's gonna be nasty!

I have a love affair with coke but it's starting to give me that nasty acidic taste at the back of my throat. Acid reflux or something. I'm really upset about that....
