Hello , I am a 34yr old male who had my 1st seizure about a yr ago. I was driving with my son in the car when this happened, hit the center wall and guard rail no real injuries just bumps and bruises thank god. My son only being 10 was great he jumped up into the front seat and searched for my cell phone to call 911. I came thru with paramedics there already. Well after all kinds of tests done they couldnt pin point why I had the seizure and put me on meds , dilantin. I went a lil over a year untill I had my 2nd seizure , which was this past friday afternoon. I can only blame myself because I skipped about 3 weeks of meds. I had this one at work and I severly bit my tongue, its been numb since friday my dr cant see me untill tom morning . I was wondering if anybody else has bitten there tongue so badly that it stayed numb for this long and how did you treat it?

My wife has chomped on her tongue hard enough to cut it about 2mm deep. She has had a "flap" on the side of her tongue for almost a year now. It is slowly healing. Not much you can do for it other than try not to bite it again. It will heal given time.

It does hurt to have a bad tongue bite, but it does heal kind of quickly since blood flow is high....Salt water rinses can really help soothe.

I am sorry you had a second seizure but I am sure you now see how important those meds are!

Take care! Hoping your tongue does feel better very soon!
