What does it mean to be a little large for your due date? The doc said that I was measuring 2 cm bigger than I should.

Mszb,

first, when are you due???? Second, is it just one child or a multiple birth?? Third, when you say 2cm bigger than you should be - just where are you talking about?? 2cm is less than 1inch so are we talking about how dilated you are or how much weight you've gained?? If it's dilated & you're not due for more than 4 weeks then it could be a problem but if it relates to how much eight you've gained then don't worry!!

One other thing is the dr talking about fluid retention on your ankles/legs or something? Because that too could be a problem if you don't rest & keep your feet raised & rest!!

Large Fo My Due Date
Hi mszb

i am 24 weeks pregnant with my second child. I just had my prenatal checkup 2 days ago and when they measured my stomach the doctor also
thought I was measuring big for my due date. He scheduled a second ultra sound. It worried me a little when I heard that, but he reasured me saying he wasn't at all concerned. He asked me if I was sure about my last period, maybe I was further along than we thought. But I am diffenetly sure about my last period. He also said maybe there was extra fluid around the baby. My mother in-law cursed me with saying it could be twins. (yikes!!!) the doctor didn't seem too worried about it, because he didn't schedule the ultra sound until my next appointment, which is 4 weeks from now. I know I didn't give you any answers but just wanted you to know i'm going through it too.

In the middle of my pregnacy I was also measuring large.Only 2 weeks later I wasn't it had averaged out.Baby has had a growth spurt.Just like all children do.Two weeks before my due date I was measuring large again. They said the baby was going to be 8 to 8 and a half pounds. She only weighed 6lb 15oz.Go figure. When they say measuring large it means the baby will be bigger. But thats not always so.

I always measured larger that I was, I never had twins :p it could depend on how much water (amniotic fluid) is around the baby. I would much rather measure on the large side than the small side :p
