I have always had bad sleep patterns for
example going on holiday for two weeks and
not sleeping for the first 4 days depsite
drinking, no drinking, having an early
night, having a late night! It really
gets me down when I have a spurt of sleep
deprivation, I believe that it is partly
becuase I am a deep thinker... I have
recently been diagnosed dyslexic at 22 yrs
old and so I think there is too much going
on in my head at bed time to chill out and
sleep, I have tried writting out things I
need to remember ona piece of paper and
setting numerous reminders on my phone but
am not sure where to begin with once and
for al sorting this out... Has anyone any
ideas?

Mine may be a little different in that my
sleep problems stem from my lupus,
however, it's a sleep problem none the
less.
It's great your trying to write things out
since that is a good way to get all that
jumbled mess in you head to settle down,
i've done that too and i've had nights
where my mind is racing a mile a minute
and I can't stop it.
Here are some things I do and they do
help.
-go to sleep the same time everyday and
wake up the same time, this is hard I know
especially when you can't sleep but after
a while of trying and getting to bed and
waking at the same time it really helps
believe me.
-cutting coffee or at least not after 4pm,
try to cut caffine period but for me I
like my coffee in the morning or mid
afternoon, but i've cut to just one cup a
day, and usually in the morning and that's
helped
-cutting or limiting alcohol that will
help too believe me
-try soothing music I have some classical
or ocean sounds they help relax the brain
but try whatever music you find relaxing
-try to limit sugar intake and especially
before bed
-for me reading before bed makes me tired,
if that works for you try it or else do
whatever you find relaxes you like a bath,
or shower, or a certin tv program
whatever
-lastly if you are still having problems
you can try sleep aids, either over the
counter, or talk to your doctor sometimes
insomnia can be an underlying problem to
something else so it's a really good idea
to check it over with your doc, they can
give you some stronger sleep aids.
Hope that helps

Hi,
i am sure you are not alone, who is facing
this kind of problem. We get lot of
queries daily about the same problem.
Thank fully, here is in the information
that could be helpful.
Have you tried smoking marijuana before
bed? I am not a regular smoker, but I
have the same sleeping problems (also a
deep thinker), so my friend introduced me
to this. Also, I have been to many
doctors regarding insomnia and all concur
that smoking marijuana before bed is a lot
better and healthier alternative to taking
sleeping pills. By smoking, this will
relax your mind and allow it to shut off,
naturally.
