Q: Pressure in the Throat, Heartburn, and Vomit Taste: GERD?
asked by: DoctorQuestion on February 25th, 2006
This has been happening for about a week. I have an extreme pressure, not painful, at the very top of my ribs on each side, right below the clavicle. The pressure is also in the very center of my clavicle, in the space right at the bottom of your throat where it feels soft. It is as if there is someone standing there. It also goes right over the top of the collar bone like a person is digging thier fingers into it. It is also like if someone is grabbing my neck bone(trachea?) and digging thier fingers in like i just got choked. a feeling of swelling or closing up also goes up the sides of my neck to right under the jaw where i can feel my pulse beating really hard. It is all just so much pressure there...i feel like i can't breathe. It comes and goes for a few hours at a time. I do not notice it as much if i'm lying very flat sometimes. I do notice i have some of the sypmtoms of gerd although i do not know if i really have it and if this pressure is related. I taste vomit in my mouth sometimes, constant cough and throat clearing and hacking up yellow mucus, and burping with very occasional heartburn. could this all be related?

Yes, all the symptoms you’ve described seem related to GERD. You can visit your doctor to confirm the reality of the symptoms (if they are real); perhap the symptoms are a product of your psycho-emotive condition.
