Acid Alternative to Drilling? Posted: 02-24-06 19:35pm
Hi,
i'm interested in finding out about
alternatives to drilling, specifically
acid.
I've heard about acid that can take the
place of drilling. Presumably a
neutraliser is put on after and rinsed out
so the filling can then be put in?
I'd like to know how it works and how safe
it is. I've looked on the net but can't
seem to find anything about it.
Thanks in advance
hope

I'm a dental assistant and i've never
heard of acid being used instead of a
drill. In fact, it sounds pretty dodgy.
Some dentists use ozone gas to kill
bacteria in cavities or fissures, and
that genrally doesn't require drilling but
it can only be used on cavities of a
certain size i.E. Small.

If your decay is not too deep there are
dentists that can use a air brush
technique. Mine does. I had a not too
deep one and he air brushed the surface of
my tooth with some gritty stuff. No pain
and no numbing necessary. I'd never seen
that before but it sure beat drilling!
