I hope my notes below on crohn's disease might be of help to someone touched with this illness.

Kindest regards,

crohn’s disease

crohn's disease is basically an inflammatory disease of the bowels.
Interestingly the disease has hereditary factors and mouth sores and ulcers are common symptoms.
Depression can be related crohn's disease.
They are both linked to bad eicosanoids (pge2 in particular) which causes inflammation. A lack of good eicosanoids will also reduce the release and uptake of the feel good hormone serotonin.

Put simply if you have too many bad eicosanoids your gut will be inflamed and you'll feel poorly.
Nearly all inflammation in the body is caused by "bad" eicosanoids, the master hormones.

Reading the book “from depression to glorious health” is recommended to help with diet and lifestyle guidelines for the treatment of this disease.

1.Balancing protein/carbohydrate and good fats with every meal is essential to eliminate the inflammation (by producing less bad eicosanoids and more good eicosanoids).
Of all the points here this is the most vital.

Fish oil supplementation also helps restore the balance of good and bad eicosanoids.
For this kind of inflammatory disease 5 to 10 grams a day of omega 3 fatty acids (8-16 capsules of pharmaceutical grade fish oil) is recommended.

2. Reduce or eliminate bad fats linked to the disease. No deep fried foods. No pre packaged foods containing hydrogenated vegetable oils.

3. Eat more good fats shown in studies to put the disease into remission.
Take fish oil as indicated above.
Eat more fish.
Cook with cold pressed extra virgin olive oil.
Eat almonds, macadamia nuts (raw) and avacados.

4. Avoid dairy. Dairy contains a bacteria called map which is linked to the disease.
If you must have milk (with your tea for example) try uht milk which does not contain the bacteria.

5. Eat low fat unsweetened yoghurt every day or better still take a probiotic capsule every day (acidophilus, lactobacterium etc.).
The good bacteria help to colonize your intestines and reduce inflammation.

6. Stop smoking. Smoking is linked to the disease and quitting often relieves the symptoms.

7. Perform strength building exercises at least four times a week (push ups, abdominal crunches, squats) to stimulate the release of human growth hormone which helps relieve symptoms of the disease.

8. Get 15 to 30 minutes of sunshine first thing in the morning to ensure adequate levels of vitamin d which can help reduce symptoms. Or take one cod liver oil capsule daily.

9. As crohn's disease is related to osteoporosis and arthritis practice prevention by taking glucosamine and chondroitin sulphate with the herb boswellia seratta (which reduces inflammation by reducing the production of various bad eicosanoids).
In australia you can buy a supplement called jointex plus at your local supermarket. 1-3 tablets every day.

10. Antioxidants like vitamin c and e help.
Take vitamin c with bioflavinoids 4-6 times daily (powder in water 250mg to 1000mg each dose).
Take vitamin e 500iu capsule once a day.

11. Flareups of crohn's disease are related to stress so take lifestyle steps to reduce stress and develop relaxation techniques, methods for relieving emotional distress etc to reduce stress.

Michelle,

i have heard of the book but haven't read it yet.

It's interesting to note that the same people who sell the book also bought the advaced hygiene products company.

This certainly reflects on them well.

Kindest regards,
andrew

Symptoms

I guessing you guys have the disease or know something about it and I was diagnosed with distal colitis which I am assuming is the same way.. I am so confused. I just wanted you guys to take a look at my symptoms because I am thinking something else serious is wrong.

Severe constant lower abdominal pressure.(never goes away)
lighter periods.
Severe constipation (water, stool softners, and fiber supplements wont even get things moving.
Mucus in my stools.
When I get upset i.E. If I fight with my husband or something my lower stomach and lower back hurt sooo bad like severe menstal cramps and goes away in about 30 minutes give or take. There is probably more but these are the bothersome ones.
And I am struggling with stress, anxiety, and depression. Any advice please! Kristy

I Feel For You

If you would like a diagnosis you really should be seeing a medical professional in person.

But here's a few things that might help you.

You can download the book from depression to glorious health in six steps (a diet and lifestyle protocol for depression and colitis) at www.Undersizeme.Com completely free.

Stress can lead to increased production of bad eicosanoids and these increase levels of pain and inflammation.

You can deal with stress and emotional pain and anxiety using a method called eft.

There's a free report called "rapid relief from emotional pain" at www.Undersizeme.Com which explains the method step by step.

You might also want to look at going to a relationships course to help reduce the fighting you do with your husband and increase the love and support in both your lives.

At worst you could read some good relationship books.

I hope you find this information helpful.

What I was wondering is if anybody else that was diagnosed with colitis if those were common symptoms because most people say your suppose to have really loose stools and I dont so I dont have insurance and its taken long enough to find that so I just wanted to know if anybody else has experienced those symptoms or any suggestions of something else that might be wrong. And thanks for those suggestions i'm gonna go take a look. Thanks kristy
