I have been with my partner for 2 years. I have not cheated on her and I have been recently diagnosed with chlymidia. My partner got tested and was clear. How is it possible she did not pick up the infection in 2 years??

Hm,mmmm
:( :( are you using condoms?? If so that's why she doesn't have it. I heard but don't quote me u can get it from p.I.D or a urinary tract infection not treated for a long time. If your not using condoms chances are she either been treated or something ain't right. You have to talk to her about that. I would be pissed but maybe you had it and never known maybe 1 of you did something but if so forgive n forget but if one of u get burned again roll out. You can get scabies and crabs from the toilets though but the clap. Who knows.Hope I help ya good luck.

No...
You *can't* get it from a uti.. It's a sexually transmitted disease.. It doesn't occur from a prolonged treatment for a uti, and if she showed negative for chlymidia she more than likely wouldn't show positive for pelvic inflammatory disease either. Most stds can lay dormant and not appear for a long time, so that's a possibility. She may have it and it hasn't shown up yet. Are you sure she isn't just saying her test showed she was clear? I'm not saying anything against your girlfriend, because telling your partner you have an std is something very difficult to do for anyone in fear of being dumped or having bad feelings occur.

It is also not caused from .P.I.D, but can be a reason a woman gets .P.I.D.

My daughter has pid....Tested negative for any std's...They say pid can be caused by a bacteria in the blood stream or other abdominal organ. They're all so close together in there! Pid is a touchy subject with me considering you can get it other ways then std's. Yet most health web sites and some Dr.'s act as though std's are they only cause.

As far as I know I did not have any .S.T.D's that caused my .P.I.D--i had been tested--but my x-husband was always sleeping around. In fact they never gave me a reason for it.

To the original poster---the std you have--could be in a different stage of the disease--like previous poster says you could have had it longer than the 2 years and it was laying dormant. And visa versa--- clymidia--is one of the most undiagnosed .Std. For it most often shows no signs-- in the male and in the female only cervical changes occur---but this is after time. Not right away. But all it takes is getting tested for all .S.T.D's periodically--and specifically ask for the clymidia test. Cuz sometimes they do not just do it---unless they have a reason too. Well...Thats how it has been for me--when I get tested.

And are you sure she was actually tested---and if they actually did the clymidia test--like I say you have to ask for it---or tell them you might have been exposed to clymidia specifically. Otherwise they do not just do it.

i was in the gynecologist last week and I told the doctor I wanted to be checked for std''s. She asks me which ones I wanted. I told her I wanted to be checked for chlamydia. She tells me that at my age (33) she has never seen chlamydia infections. She told me she rarely see chlamydia cases and that the few she's seeing is only in younger female 16-20 years old. So I did not got tested.

i cant believe she did not test you--i would have insisted. My girlfriend had bore something like 7 children, before they found her to be infected with clymidia(sp) and I know she was around 30 something. And if not treated--it can lead to .P.I.D, and cervical cancer.

she told me if I really wanted she could test me but you know I trust her. She is proven to me to be smart. I'm under close observation right now since I do have the hpv (for which she did test me without saying me anything) and I been having abnormal paps for a year.

Nightangel, if you have been in an unprotected sexual encounter I would definately get tested. I will be 31 in august. I have never been one to sleep around. My reltionships have almost all been long term ones. My husband and I divorced a year ago. After the divorce I dated a man and had unprotected sex. When I went to go get back on the pill last march I was tested for stds due to my having a new partner. I tested positive for chlamydia. My first std ever. I was embarrassed, and felt stupid for not being more careful. I was just glad that the clinic here will test for stds anytime you have a new partner, otherwise I may have never known.

Bradfordboy, it is not uncommon for a man to not know when he is carrying an std. Unless it is a severe infection, many men don't even have any noticeable symptoms. In men some stds can lay dormant for years. If you have used condoms with your girlfriend it could be that you were already infected before you two got together. Chlamydia is usually treated with the antibiotic zythromax. This antibiotic is also used to treat many other common infections. It is a possibility that maybe your girlfriend was treated with this antibiotic for another infection, and thus in the process cured the chlamydia if she had it.

well I have had unprotected sex with three guys now lol. Maybe it has to do with location. I guess where I live there isn't an epidemy of chlamydia and that is why the doctor wasn't concerned. I am not going to worry about it. Plus i'm getting pap smears every six months and the pap will show benign inflamation in cases of chlamydia infections.
