Hey guys,
i had gained a total of about 6.5 pounds at 15 weeks but recently had a bout with bronchitis and lost 4.5 pounds, so that is a total of 2 pounds weight gain at 16 weeks.

I am now 17w 4d and have still only gained a total of about 4 pounds.

I heard that it is good if by the 20th week if you have gained 10 pounds that you are doing good. At my rate it seems impossible for this to happen in 3 weeks.

I am a little concerned that I am underweight and concerned about the effects of weight gain during pregnancy.

I know that weight loss is normal during the 1st trimester but probably not too normal at 16 weeks.

It would be great if anyone has been in my boat or has any advice.

for awhile I didn't gain all that much weight and then all of a sudden I gained 12 lbs. Between two doctors appointments. That's 12 lbs. In a month. Since then I haven't gained weight like that, it went back to normal. I didn't eat anymore than normal that month either. I think you should probably ask your doctor about it though.

Hey
Hey ...Im 14 weeks pregnant..And ive lost 10 lbs since ive been pregnant. I've always had a good diet, healthy choice in foods, everything but the morning sickness took a major beatin on me...So I ended up lossing 10lbs. Dr said some women its normal to loose..He advised me at my last visit not to worry ..It would come back. So I go back in 3 days, so hopefully im starting to put a little more back on.
Goodluck babe

Hey guys thanks for replying.

I am 18 weeks today and still have only gained 5 pounds. I am starting to get really concerend.

I asked my mom about it and she said she only gained 12 pounds with me.

Do you think some people just dont gain a lot of weight.

It's funny, I have never really had problems gianing weight before.

Who knows?

Weight Loss
Hi there..I wouldn't be terribly over worried about not gaining so much..Keep trying, of course, but some women just don't gain a lot..With my 1st 2 babies, I only gained a total of 14 and 20 lbs..By the end (both boys were 7 lbs.) with my 3rd (and final pregnancy), I had only gained 2 lbs by the end of the 8th month (drs put me on emergency maternity leave so that I would gain some weight)..I ended up gaining a total of 10 lbs w/ my daughter (who was 6 lbs. 7 oz at birth)..My metabolism sped up dramatically during each of my pregnancies..Try eating a well balanced diet that includes some of the higher calorie (healthy) foods..My favorites were nuts, chocolate milk/ovaltine (which has many good nutrients in it) and peanut butter toast, along with different cheeses and some of the blander meats and hard-boiled eggs.. The way it was explained to me, the body will give the baby the nutrients it needs first and then you kind of get the leftovers, so it's probably best for your own health that you get the most nutrient rich foods that you can..Anyway, I hope I have put your mind somewhat at ease..Be sure to talk to your Dr. Of course and perhaps, even a nutritionist to get some more ideas..Good luck to you and your little one. Tracy
