I've been reading this site for a while,
and it's been very helpful. I do not
personally have cts, but have a few family
members that do.
My new stepgrandfather has carpal tunnel
syndrome developed in the late 80s working
at the post office. He's had multiple
surgeries and all the various treatments
that can be found, to no avail. They
haven't helped much, and he still gets
tingly/numbing pains in the wrists and
down the arm when he tries to grab things.
I think at this point we realize there
isn't any cure, so he has to do the best
he can to work around it. One thing I
wanted to point out, is a computer that he
just bought. Previously, he wasn't able
to keep up with us via email or instant
messenger because of typing.
With this computer though, he's able to
speak and type, as well as use his fingers
to touch the computer screen (which avoids
the bending wrist). It's been such a
great benefit and he can now use a
computer. You talk to the computer to
type & control the computer, or touch
the screen in lieu of mouse/keyboard.
