Q: Strange Pattern...

I was wondering if someone could give me some feedback if they have the same strange pattern or recognize it partly, at least. I have been having fasting glucose levels over 170, but when I eat, it drops to a low reading within an hour after I eat. I was mostly getting the high readings in the middle of the night, when I would wake up sick, but now it seems to be during the day, also. Does anyone have any kind of advice or possible explanation? I would appreciate any feedback I could receive.

Thanks!

Well, I had something like this happen to me...

Mine was caused by medicines. Prednisone has caused me to be a diabetic. Other medicines were causing me to have spikes and severe lows.

Have you changed your meds?

Breezyleigh, hello I have been a diabetic for almost 23 years now. I would have trouble with my blood sugars dropping really low about 3 am with no warning signs. Then when I would get up my fasting blood sugar was higher. The doctor had me getting up at 3 :cry and checking it. At that time I was on nph insulin, taking a shot in the morning and one before bed, and my doctor has recently changed me to lantus, which has really stopped my lows. It is a new 24 hour insulin and I have been very happy with it. Laughing
good luck and hope things get better

Hi,

you don't say whether you are on insulin or not. If so, what insulin are ou on and what dose are you taking before you eat? Are you eating enough to cover the dose of insulin? Excercising before or after you eat. Please give a little more info.

All great advice! Browneyed_butterfly75 I went through the same thing as you, good ol' 3 am readings. I am now on the pump, and I don't have that trouble anymore! Kelly
