Q: Pregnancy Symptons

I am 8 weeks pregnant tomorrow. When I first found out I was pregnant I had the normal stomach and backache. I only now have a couple of pains maybe twice a week. Should I be having these aches and pains all the time or is it normal for it to go away. I have seen my baby's heartbeat already and the doctor was happy with all. I do have the pregnancy symptons. I am just worried that the aches and pains should stay?

I really wouldn't worry, during pregnancy the aches and pains differ from one women to the next, I would be more worried if the pains carried on for a long lenth of time. Cramps and things do fade away after a while and you may have times where they return or you may not. Everything you have said sounds normal to me but if you are still worried mention it to your doctor.

Thank you, that does make me feel a lot better. I think that the aches and pains reminded me of the fact that I am pregnant and when I dont feel anything in the stomach, it feels like nothing is going on inside there. I have had a missed miscarriage before so I am very, very nervous all the time.

I had an u/s at 7 weeks exactly that showed a fetus with a heartbeat of 136 bpm. It was all as should be at 7 weeks according to my g.P. Do you know whether this reduces the risk of miscarriage? I have another appointment on monday and I will be 8 weeks and 3 days. We have not told any family or friends as yet and will try to wait till the end of the first trimester.

After you see the heartbeat the rate of miscarriage goes from 25-30% to 5-10%. So the risk is alot lower. After you hear the heartbeat with the doppler (around 10weeks) your risk goes to 3%. Try not to worry. You'll be fine.
