Q: Unprotected Sex While On Birth Control

My girlfriend and I have been having sex for just over a year now. For the entire time we have been having sex she has been on depo provera. When we first started having sex we always used condoms, but that slowly changed to only using sometimes, or only after halfway through intercourse. Sometimes we never use them and I just pull out which is fine with me, but I just think it feels better when finishing using a condom inside.

My girlfriend wants me to ejaculate inside of her, but I cant seem to make myself. In the times we have had unprotected sex (no condom) I tried to ejaculate in her one, but pulled out half way through. I just cant seem to do it. I am just paranoid about children. I know that depo is very effective, statistics show that less than one percent of 1000 women will become pregnant when using depo.

I guess my question is this: how many people have had the same problem as me, or are you comfortable with internal ejaculation.

Thanks.

I too am always a little weary! I have been on the pill for almost 5 years now. However, I know that anytime I have sex, there is always a chance even if I take the pill perfectly. You should know too, that the times you were having sex before she was on depo, and you were using condoms sometimes thru the whole thing, or halfway thru, or even using the withdrawal method that you had a high chance of getting her pregnant then.

My question then is, why are you so paranoid now that she is using protection, versus when she wasn't on anything? The withdrawal method has succeeded in pregnancy for many people I know, including half the girls on this forum.

Sorry, maybe I was not clear when I was writing the first time. We never had actual intercourse before she was on depo. And after she got on it and we started having sex, we always used condoms but that slowly changed to half way through, then never, and now its back to about half way through.

Before she was on depo we never had any penetration.. Just playing around.. So no "intercourse" before the depo.

I think what happiness03 was trying to say was that even before you ejaculate there is precum which does have sperm in it.
So, since birth control isn't 100% effective, and there is precum before you start using a condom, there is an extremely small chance that she could get pregnant. But that is extremely unlikely since she is on birth control.
I had used birth control pills for 3 years and we did not use condoms, and I will admit that I didn't take it 100% correctly. There were some days I would take it an hour or so late, sometimes even six hours later. But I never got pregnant.
I would honestly not worry about it if I were you. If you think about it, you aren't using condoms all the time, so what good are they really doing?
