Iam currently being treated for fibermyalga, I am also bipolar and have been since my teens. My doctor has me on cymbalta for pain / depression
however im not sure if this med treats bipolar or just depression. What meds are out there for bipolar. I have just recently allowed myself the understanding of bipolar,it only took me 18yrs to realize the difference between depression and bipolar. Now I wonder whats out there for treatment. I have tried alot of meds over the years for depression, and have had grandmaul seziers with some. But I will not give up on living my life,as hard as it sometimes is.

Extremely eHealthy
Hi there! I am no dr but I do know that some medications such as cymbalta is not just used for depression but it also has norepenephrine(sp) and serotonin which also helps with pain just like some depression meds help anxiety and bipolar. Maybe I can eplain it better by saying that some meds are used for more than one thing, maybe that may explain it better. I too have fibromyalgia along with other medical problems and their are times that it is difficult to explain things, I call it fibro-fog.
I have always learned that when a Dr. Prescibes a new med for me that I do some research on it. I have also leaned that it can take sometimes two weeks to two months for meds such as that to do what they are supposed to do.

The very best to you!
