Q: My Hands and Arms Become Numb When I Am Sleeping...What is H
asked by: DoctorQuestion on February 19th, 2006
it is 4:00 in the morning and I have been awaken, yet again by both arms and hands being "asleep". I hold them over the side of the bed to let the blood flow better to my hands and as they are starting to "wake up" the pain in both my arm and hands is very intense. I am frantic as to not being able to sleep. Everymorning I wake up with my arms asleep. I hope you can help me. Thank you.

Analgesics administered under the supervision of an orthopedic doctor can help relieve the pain in the arm and the hands. If these don’t help, an X-ray image of cervical vertebral column will be requested to exclude spondylotic changes of the cervical vertebrae as the cause of these symptoms.
