Question On Epilepsy
Posted: 02-17-06 18:20pm

I'm not sure that this is the right place, but i'd like to ask a question concerning epilepsy.

A close relative of mine has suffered from epileptic seizures since she was nine (now 30), and although any common event before the seziures had never really been identified, recently another close family member has realised that seizures have almost always, if not always, followed a visit to the hairdressers or the use of some sort of electrical hair device. In fact, this person first took a seizure while using a pair of curling tongs, plus, there have been various other incidents that such devices has been used prior to a seizure. What I would like to ask is, is there any possibility that using electrical hair devices, such as straighteners, could possibly trigger a seizure? If possible, could you please provide links/references which might contain information. Thankyou very much!

I have not heard of anything like straightners causing siezures. But anything is possible and your right, there has to be electrical waves going through the devises.I know there are certain excersise belts that you can't use because of the electrical waves. And as there definetly seems to be a pattern, its worth investigating.Good luck.
