I do!! I had a some heart palpitations for awhile when I first started getting anxiety. I was so worried about it, I would always check my heart rate, usually in my neck. I don't really know why... Just to see what it was doing, I guess. Since I have gotten over the whole heart thing, I don't do it as much. I hardly do it at all now, but when I do it seems to be times when I am stressed out or worried or in the middle of an anxiety attack. When it got really bad back when I was concerned about my heart, I made a conscious effort not to do it... Everytime I felt the urge to check, I forced myself to not... Easier said then done... :) but I it went from being an obsession two months ago to being just a nervous habit now... So I guess it worked. Interesting.... I thought I was the only one that did that. Good luck... I hope this helps you out a little bit. Have a good one.. :)

Crazy... It is like reading my own thoughts.. What you just wrote... I used to be highly active too. After all this happened I was afraid to start working out again. But I did last week and it was sooo wonderful. My heart did seem to be working pretty hard, but then again I think it was because I am out of shape. No exercise for 6 months will do that to you. :) but now, I avoid coffee (which I love) and almost all other forms of caffeine, alcohol, and sugar. I know it is probably in my head, but they seem to affect me more now when I do have them. I still haven't gotten over this part. I really hope that someday I will. I just figured that I can look at it two different ways... I can not exercise and have my heart pretty much be unhealthy for sure... Or I can exercise, make my heart a little stronger and maybe that alone will make this problem go away in the future... We will see what happens. :)

It looks like there is many of us who are constantly taking our pulse to check on our heart rate. Since november my anxiety has been really bad. I would take my pulse at least 10 times everyday, and the outcome was more panic because the thoughts of "i have heart problems" "i'm going to have a heart attack" would be constant. It was so bad I was in the hospital once a weak with a soaring pulse of 160bpm that could last for a half an hour. All the tests came back normal, but what I was told was I was doing this to myself by checking my pulse I would sub consiously put myself into a state of panic. After last month I have challenged myself to not do it. It comes down to self discipline, and I don't have much of it as it is, but not taking my pulse has made me have almost no panic for the last month. I finally saw the connection.

Mine varies from like74 to 60 but its at other times that I wonder what is resting rate when youve been chillin 10 minutes..I ask myself these questions allthe time probably does more harm then good like say youre walking aroun and u go up starir youre heat rate will go up but it seems like if im chillin and relaxed and jump up and g run up the stair my heart beat goes harder, its these questions I wish I could get rid of...If im standing moving here and there is that resting? All these little questions I started asking myself how do I or you stop em

When I take mine myself resting it is between 60 - 75. When I wore a 24hr moitor, the first time, at 6 in the morning while I was in my deepest sleep it was 43bpm. Doctors say many peoples heart rate gets to this level while sleeping they just don't know it cause they don't ever get the chance to wear a monitor. The next time I wore it it was at 51bpm while sleeping. This was 5 years ago and all is still well - so they must know what they are talking about. I got 4 differant opinions and 3 where from cardiologists.

Some athelets bpm get down to 40bpm or less while resting imagin what theres gets to while sleeping!

Hey,

i used to check my pulse all the time, I did it because my heart was racing or skipping a beat but also because I had depersonalisation so it was the only thing that made me feel "alive". I managed to stop myself although I did it every single day for hours and hours. Whenever I had the urge to do it I did something else it seemed to work and I don`t do it at all.

My anxiety stems from fearing for my health so anytime my heart beats fast it worries me but as I read somewhere what does it matter what it reads its not going to help my anxiety doing it, it only feeds the obsession. Anxiety is the worst!

Yep
I've been checking mine off and on since I started having anxiety and panic attacks, one month ago (but my heart rate actually has been up)
