Q: Iud Question

I just recently had an iud put in. I started bleeding heavily the day they put it in, and stopped later that day. It has now been 2 weeks, and I have started bleeding again, but I stop every night and start again the next day. It isnt painfull heavy, just like a normal period. Has anyone had day bleeding and not at night with a iud? Im wondering if this is normal. Any comments would be helpful.

Okay, one more quick question, has anyone ever had their iud fall out?? Im very worried about it falling out, I just had my 2nd baby 9 weeks ago, and I really dont want anymore kids. I was actually suppose to get my tubes tied after she was born, but I had her 4 weeks early (on dec 16th) and I was due january 6th, I turned 21 on the 1st of january, so I was 3 weeks shy of my birthday so they couldnt tie my tubes (and have my insurance cover it). My doctor said that I should be able to feel the string to know its still there, but I cant feel it :?

Iud's can fall out, but there are many many women who just have another one put right back in.

Your strings are so thin that you probably cannot feel them..If you are worried just call your doc and ask them to check them for you :)

I mean I know you can have bleeding for a few months, but heavy non stop bleeding..Is that okay? It just doesnt seem right to me. I almost feel like im gonna bleed to death or something lol.

Which iud did they put in ?? I had a mirena put in, but I switched to the copper one because on the mirena I literally bled every single day. Defiantely talk to your doc about that, you can switch iud's to one that may be better for you.

I have the mirena. I had actually planned on getting the 10 year copper one, but my doctor said it tends to make you bleed more and have a lot of cramping all the time.....So I chose this one. Is it normal to feel you want to push out your iud? I just have a feeling like something is up there and naturally want to push it out.

That is not a normal feeling no..
Basically the mirena thins out your uterine lining sooo much that many women do not have a period, yay for them.. But for women like us it causes prolonged bleeding. I bled every day without fail. I switched to a copper iud and I am perfectly fine, I only bleed during my period.

hi
i have a mirena also sinds 2 years and sinds the last half year I had weird cramps in my stomach that compare to yours. I had it checked out but eveything was okay and the dokter said he could see a blod clot on the mamogran so it was probally just cramps becauase of that. Bit I still find it cind of weird. Have you had this checked out? Would like to know if there's something wrong.

iud success
i just wanted to reply because i feel like there's definitely a lack of positive comments on IUDs on forums...!

i had a copper one put in a little over a week ago. insertion was painful but brief. afterwards i had moderate cramps for the remainder of the day. i spotted lightly for 4-5 days after insertion. by day 6 the cramps and spotting had stopped, and i had sex without problems (no pain, except for a certain position where my cervix was hit pretty hard, and partner didn't feel the strings despite them being left long).

every now and then i feel a slight discomfort somewhere in my belly, but that's just my body continuing to adjust to the iud, and i'm sure it will go away completely some time soon!

so, thus far, VERY happy with my IUD. Smile
