What is Causing Blood Blisters to Form?
Posted: 02-16-06 04:04am

I have a long history (since teens) of varicose veins, telangectasias, petechiae, bruising, etc. Lately, my lips (mouth, inner and outer) have been developing little blood blisters, petechiae I assume, along with the palms of my hands (only a few). This has not worried me as only the lips are a new area of bleeding (my chest and arms are covered by both telengecstasias and petechiae). However, my knees, and some small joints, have been going red regardless of temperature, seemingly pooling with blood. After these episodes, sometimes a small dense flat red area is left permanently. Some old scars on my knees have started to develop the same small blood blisters, sometimes bleeding through. Overnight, new varicose veins have developed in the creases behind the knees. The knees have also been paining me, but I was told there is no inhibition of motion so there is nothing to worry about. I have had about every blood test known to man done, RF factor, ANF/A, nutritive, white cell, etc and everything has come back normal. Am I just aging? I am a non-smoker, dont drink, and before these troubles set in took in regular moderate exercise. I have osteoporosis (unknown cause) and a harmless brady/tachycardia.

It seems that you have some problems with blood coagulation. It is important to identify the number of thrombocytes (platelets) in the blood and take some coagulation tests (time of bleeding, protrombin’s time, thromboplastin time, thrombo test, time for recalcification etc.) in orde to better understand the symptoms and how to help you. I recommend you visit a hematologist to help you manage these new blood blisters.
