Q: Scars - Can Anyone Help Them Go

I had surgery recently on my tummy and it has left a massive scar. The doctor tells me that it will go over time but it is really itchy and I am conscious of it. Does anyone know of any treatments to help it go? My friend says that moisturising cream helps but it doesn't seem to be doing anything quickly enough.

Hi there, I used some silicone gel sheets when I had surgery following a crash. They stick to your skin and work really well. You can get them from the chemist but they were expensive (27 quid) and I had to visit a few chemists as many didn't stock them. You can probably get them on the internet for less. I don't know about creams. Hope you get it sorted.

I used some sheets I found on ebay. They are the same as the cica care sheets but cheaper and worked just as well.

I had an26 stiches on my arm/wrist in jan 05 and it was a pretty ugly mess (i ripped of a lot of skin when I triped and fell on a board w/ nails in it on the deck....Fell off the deck but caught my arm on the nail...) but now, a year later you can hardly see it. I put cocoa butter on it b/c my teacher told me it would help..I don't know if it helped or if just time made it go away--so if my nasty looking scar can go away so nicely, i'm sure your incision scar will go away even quicker and better than mine. Just give it time to heal =}
