How Does Everyone Count Their Weeks of Pregnancy?

From most of the reading i've done...Most
start from the 1st day of your last
period...But some actually know when they
ovulated and count from when they know the
conceived.
How do you count your weeks?

I count by the weeks since my last period.
Thats what the doctors count as well.
So by the time you actually conceive, you
are considered 2 weeks pregnant. So
actually, you are pregnant for only 38
weeks.

Your Dr. Will count 40 weeks from your
last period as your projected due
date....
Month 1: 1-4 weeks
month 2: 5-8 weeks
month 3: 9-12 weeks
month 4: 13-16 weeks
month 5: 17-20 weeks
month 6: 21-24 weeks
month 7: 25-28 weeks
month 8: 29-32 weeks
month 9: 33-36 weeks
month 10: 37-40 weeks
it's very confusing because all your life
you hear that a pregnancy is 9
months...But in actuallity it's 40 weeks
which is 10 months...
You Dr. Can help you out a lot with
this..
I find it helps other people if you tell
them the week you are instead of the month
because everyone counts 9 months and it
wont add up right....
It's frustrating at first..But you'll get
the hang of it...I wasn't totally sure
until 20 weeks and I knew that that was
the last week of my 5th month!!
Good luck..I hope this helps!!!

Yes this is calander months not lunar
months--that we live in. Lunar months is
10. But calander months every 3rd month
has an extra week. And by calander
months we are pregnant exactly"" 9 months
minus 8 days.""" from 1st day of
ovulation to edd.
You get the same exact day on the .Dr
wheel as this.
Take 1st day of last period---
add 14 days---1st day of ovulation---
add exactly 9 months---
take off 8 days---edd---same as .Dr wheel.

It's still too complicated for me. I
hate even thinking about it because it's
like pregnancy lasts forever and a day.
I'm into week 25 but it feels like i've
still got forever to go. I was ticked
off at my doc bcos I know when my
conception date was because it was
definitely one of my more memorable
experiences. And that would put me about
a week ahead of my initial due date. But
the doc doesn't really care. I also
asked her about whether or not my
menstrual cycle being 21 days would have
any effect on the edd. She brushed me
off.

The edd, even from u/s or the wheel is +
or - 5 days. The baby can be born
anywhere from 37-42 weeks and still be
considered full term. They always come
exactly when they are suppose to---all
will be fine---.God bless

When they tell you for example: you are 20
weeks pregnant, this means that the baby
is actually 18weeks. That is just based
on how the docs count it, but some people
conceive before or after this time, but
they go by what's average.
Your mestrual cycle does play a part.
A baby is concidered full term at 38 weeks
but the longest the baby is concidered
safe to be in your belly (for the most
part) is 42 weeks. So they count to 40
weeks which is right in the middle. This
would mean that the average pregnancy is
280days (lmp) and 280 days actually is
closer to 9 months.
(if you count 4 weeks per month you leave
out 2-3 days per month, by the end you
will have counted 10 months but this is
not so)
280days divided by 7 days of the weeks =
40 weeks
280 days divided by 9 months = 31.1 (in
days)
i am 30 weeks
if I count by 4 weeks I would be 7 and a
half months (some people do this and end
up being 10 months by the end)
but if I count by actual calendar months I
won't be 7 months until feb.23rd
what I did to help me was just write on my
calendar to count by weeks. Find the
first day of your last menstrual cycle and
mark 1week and go down each week as 2,
3,4, ... That way you can keep track.

That's odd because I am 29 weeks and in
the 1st week of my 8th month...I go my my
method only because it's my Dr.S
suggestion that I do to stay
unconfused....
I am 29 weeks preggy but my baby is only
27 weeks old...That's an understood being
that they count the 2 weeks before the
embryo implants as you being preggy.
The way I count that I am in my 1st week
of my 8th month makes total logical
sense...If my pregnancy is 40 weeks than I
only have 10.3 weeks to go which adds up
to 2 1/2 months left. Which would put me
at 10 months...Granted it's 2 or 3 days
off being that feb. Is only a 28 day
month, I am very specific when it comes to
days...Today I am 29.4 days preggy...

counting 4 weeks as a month
8 multiplied by 4 =32 (weeks??) I am
confused??

Exactly....32 weeks would be the last week
of your 8th month....
36 weeks would be the last week of your
9th month.....
So on and so on....
The way my Dr. Explained it was with the
weeks of the 5th month..I though you made
5 months when you were 20 weeks and he
told me that 20 weeks is the last week of
your 5th month...And then it clicked for
me...

Wow! Thanks for all the responses. It
almost ticks me off that you have to count
the two weeks before conception. So when
someone says they're 6 weeks
preggo...They've actually only been preggo
for 4. Urgh! What a pain! Maybe i'm
just grumpy! :( lol!
Anyway...Thanks again!!

Lol, ok I see what you mean now. It's
like me saying that I am 23 years old
because I am in my 23rd year of life even
though my birthday hasn't come yet. So I
am 22 years old (completed year) but have
entered my 23rd year.
Although... If you say you have 2 and
half months left until you are 10 months,
doesn't that mean that you are 7.5
months??
I am confused again?

Lol...Just ask your Dr. How they would
explain the length of time and how to
translate it into months for you...
Girl..It took me a long time to finally
figure it out and I couldn't have done it
with out lil_blaze and my ob/gyn....
Ok...40 weeks = approx. 10 months.....
Month 1: 1-4 weeks
month 2: 5-8 weeks
month 3: 9-12 weeks
month 4: 13-16 weeks
month 5: 17-20 weeks
month 6: 21-24 weeks
month 7: 25-28 weeks
month 8: 29-32 weeks
month 9: 33-36 weeks
month 10: 37-40 weeks
this is how my Dr. Broke it down for
me....It's pretty self explanitory but
it'll take a while!! Lol...
Ohhhh...I hear what ya saying about the
7.5 months!!! Lol...Hello!!! I'm 8
months preggy...But my baby is only 7.5
months old!!! Lol...That one took me a
while....You are considered preggy but
your embryo (forms when the sperm
fertilizes the egg) doesn't implan into
your uterus until approx. 2 weeks
later..Which is when some women experience
implantation bleeding...It's not exactly 2
weeks it's just the ecd (estimated
conception date)...Your baby can be born
at 38 weeks..Which would make me 40 weeks
preggy!
I really hope this helps!!!

Lol! I think my brain has just been
operating a little slower these days.
Hehehe! I do get it though. I just wish
they'd count from probable implantation
date. Just seems to make more sense. So
if i'm preggo i'd be 7 weeks and 2 days.
Last normal af started dec 25th. Wow!

lol! Yeah i've thought of that before.
As I get older...I think I may just try to
forget that little fact. I prefer to
think that i'm 25 for 7 more months rather
than i'll be done my 26th year in 7
months. Lol!
Thanks for all the responses. :)
