Q: Strange Anxiety

I just wanna ask that if I am anxious about a certain action, but I have to do that action everyday, should I be really doing it? Or is there any way to like "face my fear/anxiety"?

I just recently got a car and a lisence, but every time before I drive, I always felt nervous and my heart just starts to race.....It stops when I am driving for a little while, but does anybody know of someone who is like me?

I feel so weird that no one I know has this, since there is really no way to get around without a car, I just have to drive....

It's so weird....

Re: Strange Anxiety
Hi,
my name is karen and I had that happen to me, only when I have bin in the car for a few minutes, and if am stress about something. I think you must be stress, or thinking of something stressful, now I deal with it by taking deep breaths, listen to some music that calms me down. :d

thanks!! So glad I am not the only one who felt this way. I guess I am stressed that I am not a good driver or I am gonna kill my car. Coz I just recently learned how to drive since I never drove before, and I am driving a stick, so it's even more stressful.

Thanks again for ur advice and comfort!! Wink

I actually have a friend with car-anxiety too. That was just a stage. She's over it now. I guess you just have to get used to driving.

Oh, that's very comforting! Thank you so much!

So I will get over this? It would really be sad if I have to deal with this for the rest of my life or as long as I have to drive.... Sad

thanks again for all ur help!

Oh, i'm almost positive you'll get over this.

Just have self-confidence and also a knowledge that you have been trained to be a licensed driver, and you are fully capable of driving safely using the precautions necessary to be a good driver.

I have faith in you! You can do it!

Happen to Me
When I was 15 and just learning to drive and was going through the whole drivers ed thing I was absoloutly terrified of driving. I passed the class fine but I just dreaded having to drive in the last part. I hated driving and it scared the living hell out of me, and it was like that until I got my actual lisence and started to drive more... Then it slowly just kind of wore off and now im used to. I'm sure you'll get it over it, it just sounds like what happened to me... Its just a whole confidence issue you have to deal with but as soon as you drive more the car will seem more comfortable

Confidence huh?! That's what my boyfriend always tells me, but I tend to get even extra nervous if he says that and pushes me to drive. I find driving on my own is much less stressed than driving with him in the car since he is a pretty darn good driver. .......

I am so glad I am not the only one that experienced that, since I never had to drive before (i lived in the city, real city) and now I kinda living in the country, so no car equals going nowhere!

Thanks again for all ur help

u guys made me feel much much better!!! Smile

Everyone, I wanna say that I now do not have that anxiety anymore, though I might get a bit nervous when I am driving to a place where I am not familiar with, but the anxiety before driving is gone, faster than I thought!!

I am definitely more confident! And I found that coffee has alot to with why I was over nervous!!!!

And I just wanna share this and thank so much for everyone's support
