Q: Sex After a Hystorectomy

I have read all the horror stories about sex after surgery in this site and I have talked to several women outside the web, most women I have talked to have said that the sex problem is all in your head, that they have had no changes or it gets better. I would like to know if it all depends on the persons mental state or is it medical? I am suppose to have a full hystorectomy done soon and I am really teriffied.

let me tell you something. I am a 36 years old lady and had hysterectomy last year, exactly 9 months ago. I feel really really perfect, better than before and my sex life had become much better since that time. I enjoyed really much and I feel with more freedom than before I don“t have to worry anymore about using pads and cramps and pregnancy and such things. After surgery, I stayed very stretched so the sensation is double. I feel like a virgin again, believe me I am not overreacting.

Hi Meesee and welcome to ehealth...Seeing the post that you refer to is three years old, I want to reassure you that sex will be better than ever...If you expect this, then you will get it....If you look for a problem, then you will make your own problem....It is a mind game...

I always enjoyed our sex life, but after this happening, I learned another and more free part of me existed....Believe me, I have never looked back....Life is good...

I am here at the Forum if you ever have any questions...Good luck...and get a lot of rest...It is the beginning of a new and wonderful life....

Caroline

I agree with caroline.I had one years ago and it frees you to not worry about pregnancy and the mess of a period..Makes sex life more enjoyable..Also, if you are loose in that area tell the docs to tuck you in a bit..:^) well worthit..Though I still bloat and eat chocolate at that time frame..LOL.. kd

Oh honey I understand about age--I was 30 when I had to have mine..My uterus was so far out of me that there was no option..We were overseas and that was the thing to do I suppose..I was scared too thinking it would end my womanhood..Little did I know It opened doors to my womanhood that far surpassed what I had before..
I hope you will reach out when you are healed and enjoy your new life with your man..
