I worried about a pain in the lower left side about waist level. I've had 3 kidney stones in the last 12 years, but the pain was more in the back.

Sounds like a Kidney stone to me. I've passed a few and that is the area where it hurts. I would advise having a mri or cat scan done to see whats going on. There are some stones that cannot pass and the ones that do can become obstructed and will need to be removed. If you find out that you do indeed have one, ask for some toradol. Its a strong inflammation pill that works very well. Its the only thing that will help my kidney stone pain and I would advise you to drink lots of water to try to flush it out. Good luck to you... Send me an email if you have any further questions!
