Before I Go Jump Off a Bridge.... Posted: 02-11-06 10:35am
Metaphorically speaking - as suicide isn't
in my code of beliefs but have to say it's
the first time in a decade of chronic pain
conditions including cancer and bone pain,
that i've been debating the fact that if I
wasn't a christian, I would be considering
my options on how to leave this world
early on account of the unreal, absolutely
dire, horrendous (and 20 other major
descriptors) pain i'm undergoing just now.
I've a hx of lupus, sjogren's syndrome,
fibromyalgia and a load of other problems
incl avascular necrosis (which causes the
bone pain) and just this week been
diagnosed with cts. My problems with the
latter started suddenly just 3 months ago,
and have seemingly escalated during that
short space of time to now be so severe as
to require surgery. Daytime I have the
usual hand numbness & pins/needles
etc, but minimal pain apart from a more
recent shoulder problem that's just adding
in to the mix. Like many others here no
doubt, my real and severe problems start
within 15 mins of going to bed or more
precisely of settling down to sleep.
From there on it's like ww10 begins in my
arms and hands, with the worst pain (told
it's nerve) imaginable welting in and
torturing me. This is despite being on
30 mg of oxycontin, 10 of oxynorm (the
fast acting), and 300 mg of lyrica along
with ibuprofen (minimal as i've problems
taking it - so rarely manage more than 400
mg) and finally lathering myself with all
the anti-inflammatory gels of the day.
At the onset of the problems when it was
considered to be a possible brachial
plexus issue, I was given a soft neck
collar which did alleviate some of the
pain overnight - now for whatever reason,
it escalates it! Having just spent most
of last night in tears trying to find some
position to alleviate the dire deadness in
my hands, and firewall pain in the arms to
no avail, I truly don't know how to
consider going to bed again tonight, yet
am utterly exhausted from this onslaught.
The bone pain of multiple infarcts in
the right arm isn't helping much either,
as the lack of sleep is exacerbating
those, along with the fms pain too, so
pretty miserable all roads. Anyone else
have this type of experience (to any
degree) and can it be purely indicative of
severe cts as the ncs indicated? And
would you reckon a doc might have anything
better in his arsenal to provide me to
alleviate some of this madness perhaps?
Truly need some encouragement on this
problem, as it's the first one i've run
into with nothing helping me. At least
the oc works for the bone pain fairly
well, but nothing is denting this much,
atlhough again, I should perhaps clarify
that the lyrica did seem to work really
well the first 3 nights I took it (at the
lower dose of 75 mg!) yet now isn't
working even on the higher doses!!
Anyone provide me with some measure of
sanity in this insane situation please

Thank you so much for taking the time you
have to reply. Just subscribing to that
forum as I write here. Since I wrote
that msg thankfully my gp had some sense
and put me on a short course of steroids
for 2 wks, but sadly now 2 wks off them
i'm pretty much back to where I was a
month or two ago, although perhaps not
quite at that dire place yet where I want
to contemplate jumping off any bridges
soon :d. And since it seems nobody
else on this forum was interested in
supporting me too much in my deepest time
of need, i'll move on to yours instead :)
. Thanks again.
